Chris Snowman

Profile

Chris Snowman is Welding & Drilling Supervisor and Senior Engineer at Global Oilfield Systems, leading the technical authority function for every welded joint and every drilling program the company touches. With 32 years in the field, he is the person crews call when a job stops being routine.

Chris owns the company's welding procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) across carbon steel, duplex, and high-strength pipeline grades. He qualifies welders personally, signs off on repair procedures for damaged pipeline sections, and leads root-cause investigations on any weld failure in the group.

On the drilling side he supervises well programs from surface hole through completion, focusing on well control readiness, casing running integrity, and the interface between the rig crew and third-party service providers. He has run operations onshore in Texas, Oklahoma, and North Dakota, and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa.

He built the G.O.S welder qualification school, which now certifies field welders to API 1104 and ASME IX standards in-house rather than relying on external test centers. More than 300 welders have come through the program.

Chris holds AWS Certified Welding Inspector credentials, ASME IX and API 1104 qualifications, NDT Level II in ultrasonic and radiographic testing, and current well-control certification. He is a working supervisor, he still spends the majority of his year on site.

His crews describe him as demanding on procedure and generous with teaching. He has trained an entire generation of the company's current field leadership.
